Carbon Compost Company, heading a consortium comprising Sheffield University, Loglogic of Cullompton and Crops4energy of Bristol, has been chosen to go through to Stage One of the DECC's Wetland Biomass to Bioenergy Trials. The aim of the trials is to provide a solution to enable the RSPB and Natural England to convert harvested reed and rush from their wetland sites into bioenergy. Carbon Compost's Exeter Retort will be used to turn the harvested biomass into charcoal which in turn will be used to generate electricity.

Our charcoal retort "The Exeter Retort" is now in full production and available to order.
The operation of the
retort has exceeded our
expectations and is producing
high quality charcoal/biochar in a
fraction of the time taken by
traditional ring kilns.
Environmentally, the retort releases
approx. 75% fewer pollutants to the
atmosphere than ring kilns. See our web www.biocharretort.com
